The
Lamentation Run Area was once considered for Wilderness. This
beautiful area has been proposed as a National
Recreation Area by the Allegheny Defense Project
and included in federal legislation as a protected Special Area.
The bike ride will feature exceptional views, beautiful
forest lands,
and a basic introduction
to the Lamentation Run area. The Lamentation Bicycle Trail is
part of a forest wide roads-to-trails effort led by the Allegheny
Defense
Project. Join us
for the first official ride on the proposed Lamentation
Run Bicycle Trail.
Participants should meet at 10am
at the turnaround at the northern end of Forest Road 212. Come
prepared
for
rain or shine. Bring water and your bicycle!
For
more information contact the Allegheny Defense Project at (814)
223-4996 or sign up on-line
at www.alleghenydefense.org. On the day of the
event we can be reached at (814) 229-4790 (if
reception allows).
