Allegheny Defense Project Announces Monthly Outings
Clarion, PA - The Allegheny Defense Project, a forest
protection group based in Clarion, PA, will be hosting monthly outings
throughout the next year. These outings will include hiking, backpacking,
canoeing, and cross-country skiing trips.
"We wanted to provide an opportunity for folks
to get out and explore Pennsylvania and Western New York's public
lands. It's a great way to meet other people concerned about our
public lands in a fun and informal setting," said Rachel Martin,
Outreach Program Director for the Allegheny Defense Project.
The group currently has trips scheduled through December.
The schedule for the trips is as follows:
Sunday, September 2: Hiking: North Country National
Scenic Trail, Salmon Creek area, Allegheny National Forest. Meet
at 9:00 am at gazebo in park on Main Street in Clarion (to carpool)
or at 10:00 am at the North Country trailhead on Forest Road 145
(call for directions.)
Saturday, October 20 to Sunday, October 21: Hickory
Creek Wilderness Backpacking Trip: Hickory Creek Wilderness area,
